Having been a hotel since 1896. The Commodore has been and still is an important part of the town. During its history the Commodore Hotel has had the pleasure of accommodation many well known Personalities, including Royalty; the King of Jordan was one of them and one of the hotels bathrooms was especially designed for him. The hotel was originally build by a doctor Greenway on the site of the first Rectory in the town and was named Plas Winton after Archdeacon Henry de Winton who lived in the Rectory. After the war the hotel was renamed Hotel Commodore

The first Bar to be opened in the reign of Queen Elizabeth II was the Log Cabin Bar at the Hotel Commodore. Here is the commemorative postcard issued at the opening.

  The Bar has been much updated over the years however the atmosphere still exists.
  The growth and past success of Llandrindod Wells was largely thanks to the discovery of the Spa waters. Here is a cartoon showing the towns people's ever present sense of humor
